Tell us about yourself, how did you actually started out in this business?Lydia: There is love happening around us everyday.. on the streets, in the mall, beach...everywhere. My passion is to discover these through photography and videography every single day.
This business started through videography. I did a few montage and love story video clips. Slowly I expanded my expertise into capturing wedding days with both videography and photography.
It amazes me to discover how love can be captured in photographs and videos. They truly can speak a thousand words.
Define your photography/videography style
In every project, one thing that we always do, is to capture moments beyond imagination. And this revolves around our hearts in everything we do. And when our hearts are connected with our clients' dreams, desires, happiness and loved ones... the photos and videos will be able to capture what's most meaningful to them that they can keep forever.
How do you build chemistry with wedding couples quickly on a short project timeframe?
Our team is a very people-oriented. We love to get to know new people. Even if it's not on project basis... we still love to know people that we've just met. That's why we love to capture people and and their emotions. What we can do is to sincerely assist the couples in what they want to achieve produce the best results for their wedding.
What are the most romantic places you have shot for couples?
I would say.. Bali is considered a "romantic" place to shoot.
Any unique/ unforgettable encounters?
I think the most fun and unforgettable is when we risk our lives to capture nice angles... hahaha... for example we have climbed beside a river, stood in the middle of the road, landed in Indonesia at the day when Ritz Carlton and Marriott was being bombed and the whole city was in chaos!
We also tried to shoot a couple on a small boat at the small river. But it's all worthwhile, worth our risk, worth our energy.. when we see the results and the happiness brought to the couples.
Do you think there are 'trends' in wedding photography/videography? What affects these trends?
I guess the most 'trendy' thing to do now is to shoot their preweddings at places around the world. Most brides would like to keep their wedding gown a secret till their wedding day so they would shoot in their evening gowns and casuals. And they like more photos that have emotions and fun... that's what will make a difference when they look back 10 to 20 years later.
Nowadays, "photo sessions" are becoming more and more like a "fun holiday" for the couples... That's how photos turned out beyond our imagination and still able to capture who they really are.
Any words of advice for the brides & grooms in Simply Wedding on choosing the right wedding photographer?
I think the best is to engage a photographer who can connect and build chemistry with the couple. Any photos captured by heart.. is simply amazing. Choose a photographer that could connect to you heart to heart.
Lastly, who would you get to be your own wedding photographer on your wedding day and why?
I'll choose a photographer that is fun... and not afraid to try something new for the fun of it. A photographer that's passionate and so in love in what they do. A photographer who not only think of this as a job, but take effort to understand us like a friend.
